MMC Oil & Gas Engineering Sdn Bhd (MMCOG) is principally involved in the provision of professional engineering services. These include design engineering consultancy for both offshore and onshore oil & gas and petrochemical facilities.
In addition, the company also provides technical assistance for project management and procurement services to its clients.
Currently, the company employs about 150 technical staff from various engineering disciplines, project management and control and quality assurance.
MMCOG boasts a client list comprising local and foreign multinationals such as Petronas Carigali, ExxonMobil, Sarawak Shell, Malaysian Shipyard Engineering, Nippon Oil, Murphy Oil, Intec Engineering and Petronas Penapisan.
On the international scene, it has successfully delivered projects to Qatar Petroleum, National Iranian Oil Company, PETRODAR of Sudan and PTSC of Vietnam.
For the PETRODAR project in Sudan, MMCOG has participated in a joint venture with Sinopec Corp of China and TOCO.
To date, MMCOG is enjoying 30% market share in the local oil and gas design engineering market and is currently consolidating its position.
The company aims to become the choice total engineering solutions provider with EPC capabilities.
In this respect, it has aggressively promoted alliances, either permanent or project to project, with appropriate partners to complement existing resources and gain the necessary technical and/ or market leads.
Recently concluded ties with Transfield Services of Australia and VME Process of the United States will provide the company with the competitive edge to venture into new areas of the supply chain within the local oil and gas activities.
MMCOG's contracting capability is complemented by member companies of the MMC Corp Bhd Group such as MMC Engineering Services Sdn Bhd and Tepat Teknik Sdn Bhd.
In addition to its offices in Kuala Lumpur and Kerteh, MMCOG recently established its presence in Doha, Qatar to enable it to service its clients in the Gulf region. Despite the challenging conditions there, the company is bullish about the opportunities available in the region as Qatar is set to become the oil and gas hub in the Middle East.
As a service provider, MMCOG's operations is ISO9001:2000- compliant backed by stringent QA procedures with regular certification audits conducted. `As the quality of service is taken as a strategic tool for the business, the company is committed and takes a proactive approach in continuing improvement programmes in line with its `Quest For First Time Right' corporate policy,' says CEO Shaharel Shafiei.
