LETTERS – The Religion, Not Science, of Evolution
James Transue errs in his Dec. 26 letter (“Bristling biologists”) by comparing intelligent design to a fairy tale.
Evolution is not operational science. It is man’s thoughts about origins. Evolutionary “evidence,” such as natural selection, supports biblical creation, as well. What is evolutionary evidence today will be discarded tomorrow, when it no longer supports the theory.
For example, in the Scopes Trial, of 1925, the best evolutionary evidence was Piltdown man, later identified as a fraud; Neanderthal man, whose DNA falls within the variation of human DNA; useless organs, such as the appendix, which is now known to have many functions; and horse evolution, which has been discarded.
Until the religion of evolution is removed from the science class, alternative ideas should be taught. The same evidence from biology, geology, chemistry, astronomy, etc., that evolutionists claim as “theirs” also supports creationism. We need to learn a lesson from the Scopes Trial.
Evolutionists are groping in the dark to support their view, but they are no closer to the truth. God’s Word never changes, and has never been wrong.
