TEHRAN. Feb 25 (Interfax) - Russia and Iran are equally interested in bringing into operation the nuclear power plant under construction in Bushehr as soon as possible, Russian Federal Atomic Energy Agency (Rosatom) chief Sergei Kiriyenko said in Tehran on Saturday.
"There are no political obstacles here. We are interested in launching it as soon as possible. Our negotiations have just started, and I am glad about how they are proceeding," Kiriyenko said, adding that both Russia and Iran were highly interested in the talks.
Asked by journalists whether Russia's proposal to set up a joint venture for uranium enrichment on Russian territory was still on the table, Kiriyenko replied, "Yes, sure."
Kiriyenko said the Russian delegation accompanying him on the trip includes enough experts to provide answers to all questions Iran might have.
Iranian Vice President for Atomic Energy Qolam-Reza Aqazadeh said his meeting with Kiriyenko dealt with "the current situation in the final phase of the construction of the nuclear power plant, which we are going to visit tomorrow, and also prospects of cooperation in the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy."
Kiriyenko also added that Russian-Iranian joint expert groups would discuss bilateral cooperation on Saturday.
