Feb. 28--The Bellingham Bay Foundation is holding a public open house at 7 p.m. Wednesday to showcase the private group's alternative plan for redevelopment of the Bellingham waterfront.
The event will be in Whatcom County Council chambers in the Whatcom County Courthouse, 311 Grand Ave.
The foundation is pushing its plan as an alternative to plans being developed for the Port of Bellingham by a Seattle architectural firm. The foundation's plan calls for more park space, partly because it envisions filling in Georgia-Pacific West Inc.'s treatment lagoon to create a park site, instead of using the lagoon for a marina as envisioned in the port's plans.
