U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Commander to Address ABC National Convention

WASHINGTON, March 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today announced that commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lieutenant General Carl A. Strock will address ABC's National Convention March 16 at the Wynn Las Vegas. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is comprised of military and civilian engineers, scientists and other specialists working to provide engineering services to the nation. Under Lt. Gen. Strock's leadership, the corps has played a fundamental role in rebuilding efforts in Iraq and in the Gulf Coast region in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Lt. Gen. Strock enlisted in the Army and received his commission as an infantry second lieutenant following graduation from Officer Candidate School in 1972. After completing Ranger and Special Forces training, he served primarily with infantry units before transferring to the Engineer Branch in 1983. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute and a master's degree in civil engineering from Mississippi State University. Before being selected to head the Army Corps of Engineers, Strock served a six-month tour of duty in Iraq as the Coalition Provisional Authority's deputy director of operations.
