Palo Alto Cops to Take Turn As Waiters for Benefit

March 2, 2006

By HongDao Nguyen, San Jose Mercury News, Calif.

Mar. 2–Palo Alto police officers will wait tables, greet customers and ask for “tips” at Hobee’s California Restaurant in Palo Alto Saturday to raise money for Special Olympics Northern California.

For the “Tip-A-Cop” event, which lasts from 5 to 9 p.m., about a dozen officers will partner with the regular restaurant staff and share information about the program. They’ll talk about the Special Olympics and explain how customers’ donations can help.

Proceeds will be used to provide year-long sports training and competition for kids and adults with developmental disabilities.

Hobee’s is located at 4224 El Camino Real. For more information, call the police department at (650) 329-2637.
