March 6, 2006

Excerpt from report by Russian news agency ITAR-TASS

Novovoronezh, 6 March: The No 4 power unit of the Novovoronezh nuclear power plant has been put back into operation after being stopped on 4 March for maintenance, acting chief engineer Viktor Loskutov has told ITAR-TASS.

After the unit had worked to its maximum capacity during the winter season, it was decided to stop the reactor to check its equipment. The weekend, when the load on the system is lower, was chosen for this purpose. The plant’s specialists checked the reactor’s safety systems and the state of generators. Three days instead of the 10 envisaged by regulations were used for maintenance work.
