Gas Trader to Pay for Extra Gas Ukraine Consumed in January - Russia's Gazprom

The [Swiss-based] Rosukrenergo company will pay [Russian gas monopoly] Gazprom for the gas Ukraine consumed above the contract in January at a price of 230 dollars per 1,000 cu.m. of gas, Gazprom's deputy board chairman Aleksandr Medvedev told journalists today.
I recall that Kiev overconsumed more than 500m cu.m. of gas in January 2006, according to Gazprom's information.
The head of [Ukrainian national oil and gas company] Naftohaz Ukrayiny, Oleksiy Ivchenko, said earlier that his company was going to pay Rosukrenergo for the extra gas consumed at a price of 95 dollars per 1,000 cu.m.
[Under the gas deal signed by Naftohaz and Gazprom on 4 January, Gazprom sells gas to Rosukrenergo for 230 dollars per 1,000 cu.m. and Rosukrenergo then sells a mixture of Russian and cheaper Central Asian gas to Ukraine for 95 dollars per 1,000 cu.m.]
