SEOUL, South Korea - South Korea on Thursday stripped disgraced scientist Hwang Woo-suk of his license to conduct stem cell research, the latest blow since revelations that his most high-profile work relied on forged evidence.
The Health Ministry revoked Hwang's permission to conduct stem cell research even though the government has not completed its investigation into the scientific scandal.
South Korea had sought to become a global hub for stem cell technology, but with Hwang losing his licence, no lab in the country is currently allowed to conduct such research.
