Highest Price for Gas in Area Hits $2.65 a Gallon

Mar. 16--Gasoline prices in the Milwaukee area averaged about $2.45 Wednesday, though some outlets were charging as much as $2.65 a gallon.
The cost of a gallon of regular, unleaded gasoline in Wisconsin has been running about 12 cents above the national average for the last several weeks, said AAA Wisconsin spokeswoman Pam Moen.
The national average as of early Wednesday was $2.36, Moen said.
During this time of the year, Midwest oil refineries begin switching from winter blend to summer blend gasoline, which can affect supplies and prices, Moen said.
Gasoline prices in the Milwaukee area ranged from $2.65 a gallon to as low as $2.37 a gallon, according to MilwaukeeGasPrices.com.
