By The Idaho Statesman, Boise

Mar. 28--The Idaho Public Archives is offering a series of lectures and workshops on "Writing Creative Family History" at its new facility.

The first two sessions will be on writing traditional family histories. The rest of the series will focus on techniques for making your family history as creative and interesting as possible for readers other than members of your own family.

In this series, we'll talk about and practice the narrative techniques that writers and publishers use to lure readers to family histories.

The series is open-ended, but will be at least six two-hour sessions over a period of six months.

Classes will be at 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at 2205 Old Penitentiary Road in Boise beginning Thursday, May 4, and meet the first Thursday of each month through October. Fees are $5 per lecture/workshop or you can attend the entire series for the discounted rate of $25. Checks or money orders may be made payable to Idaho Public Archives, 2205 Old Penitentiary Road, Boise ID 83712-8250, or payment may be made by credit card via Steve Barrett at the archives at 514-2313 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays.
