New Website Www.Cabrilloport.Com Features Updated Information on BHP Billiton's Proposed Cabrillo Port Project

Posted on: Wednesday, 5 April 2006, 12:01 CDT

OXNARD, Calif., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- BHP Billiton announced today that a new website featuring a short video animation of the company's proposed Cabrillo Port project, an offshore natural gas transfer facility, is now available. Located at http://www.cabrilloport.com/, the website contains information in English and Spanish, including a short, six-minute video on how the proposed project will transfer liquefied natural gas (LNG) to natural gas at Cabrillo Port. This website replaces the previous one produced for the project at LNGsolutions.com.

Cabrillo Port is currently undergoing a comprehensive environmental review process, and the website lists links to the California State Lands Commission where the revised draft EIR/EIS document can be viewed. The facility would be located almost 14 miles from the coastline and more than 21 miles off the coast of Oxnard. It would deliver natural gas to Southern California through Southern California Gas Company pipelines. When Cabrillo Port comes into production, which could occur as soon as 2010, it will be the world's second offshore floating LNG facility, following the installation of a natural gas facility off the coast of Italy that is expected to commence production in 2008.

BHP Billiton is the world's largest diversified resources company with its head office in Australia and a market cap of more than US$100-billion. The company's origins date back to the 19th century, and there are currently some 37,000 people employed in approximately 25 countries around the world.
