Apr. 17--CHAMPAIGN A Champaign-based company today was scheduled to launch three lines of dog biscuits designed to address different canine health conditions.
CiboReale LLC was to begin offering premium biscuits containing natural bioactive ingredients that tend to reduce chronic diseases, infections and aging-related issues, a company news release stated.
The company, founded by University of Illinois graduate Davyd W. Chung, plans to begin selling the biscuits at its Web site, www.ciboreale.com, late this month or in early May. But in June, the company expects dog boutiques and pet stores in major cities to start carrying the products.
The first line of biscuits, CiboReale ABC, targets joint aches, bone health and cardiovascular-related issues.
The second line, CiboReale GI, is designed to prevent development of diseases related to the gastrointestinal tract.
The third line, CiboReale Y, prolongs the youthfulness of dogs by enhancing their immune system and reducing negative effects caused by aging.
The company said it eventually plans to introduce other premium products related to pet health.
Also scheduled to be launched today was the CiboReale Web site, where consumers can learn about pet lifestyle issues from cancer prevention to how to care for a newborn puppy.
The Web site has a pet health library section as well as an "Ask A Vet" section, where consumers can ask veterinarians questions.
"We have finished building our manufacturing site, partnered up with the Developmental Services Center for packaging and are fully integrated with UPS for all our distribution needs," Chung stated in an e-mail.
The company's main office is in the EnterpriseWorks building in the University of Illinois Research Park, and the manufacturing site is in west Champaign, Chung said.
Chung said the company has created nearly 20 jobs, directly or indirectly, in the community this year. He said seven of those are employees and the remainder are DSC clients.
The company plans a promotional launch for its products from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Holiday Inn Express in Urbana, with nutritional experts and veterinarians expected to be on hand.
At the launch, the company will sell 12-biscuit boxes for $12 and CiboReale T-shirts and mugs for $11 and $10 each, respectively, Chung said.
