Mass Megawatts Wind Power, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: MMGW) Reduces Wind Energy Cost With New Improvements

Posted on: Monday, 1 May 2006, 09:02 CDT

WORCESTER, Mass., May 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mass Megawatts Wind Power, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: MMGW) announced today that the cost of producing its wind power plants is declining with improved technology. As a result, Mass Megawatts can compete more effectively with fossil fuels like oil and natural gas in high wind areas. Engineering design modifications have resulted in several innovations. Mass Megawatts is using less expensive mechanical parts after undergoing 18 months of outdoor testing. On many occasions, the weather was very severe during the testing period. In another example of cost reduction, the use of air flow acceleration techniques normally not cost effective for wind power systems is a method being used to compete more effectively. In order to be successful with the use of air flow acceleration techniques like diffusers and wind augmentation, Mass Megawatts' wind power plants are being constructed to be strong enough for withstanding the long term wear and tear of turbulence related to diffuser airflow. Additionally, Mass Megawatts is using less expensive material with its diffusers in order to achieve cost reductions. In the past, engineering or cost related issues prevented the more common horizontal axis wind turbines from commercializing the use of diffusers.

This press release contains forward-looking statements that could be affected by risks and uncertainties, including but not limited to Mass Megawatts Wind Power, Inc.'s ability to commercialize a wind energy conversion device. Among the factors that could cause actual events to differ materially from those indicated herein are: the failure of Mass Megawatts Wind Power, Inc. to achieve or maintain necessary zoning approvals with respect to the location of its MAT power developments; general economic conditions; and other risk factors detailed in periodic reports filed by Mass Megawatts Wind Power, Inc.
