CHICAGO, May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- ComEd will display its Mobile Solar Power Station and conduct presentations on solar energy and energy efficiency Sunday at the Green Earth Fair in Naperville.
The Third Annual Green Earth Fair will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Green Earth Institute's organic vegetable farm at 10S404 Knoch Knolls Road. The fair is free, open to the public, and provides an opportunity to learn about ways to use environmentally friendly practices in the home and garden.
ComEd will present "Solar Energy - Home Applications" in the Granary at 1 p.m. and "Home Energy Savings Strategies" at 3:15 p.m. at the Mobile Solar Power Station. The unit is a portable, self-contained photovoltaic power station that generates 1.8 kilowatts. Its photovoltaic array consists of 24, 75-watt modules with 10 maintenance-free 12-volt batteries. The power station is capable of providing approximately 500 watts of continuous power at 120V, 60Hz. In inclement weather, the battery storage allows for electrical loads of up to 4,000 watts for about three hours, which could serve as an adequate electrical back-up system for today's average homeowner.
Commonwealth Edison Company (ComEd) is a unit of Chicago-based Exelon Corporation , one of the nation's largest electric utilities with approximately 5.2 million customers and more than $15 billion in annual revenues. ComEd provides service to approximately 3.7 million customers across Northern Illinois, or 70 percent of the state's population.
