Parsons was selected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Sacramento District to participate in a $200 million shared capacity Environmental Remediation Services (ERS) contract. This 5-year Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract will be firm-fixed-price or cost-plus-fixed-fee to ensure the Corps of Engineers receives the best value.
Under the contract, Parsons will provide program management; subcontractor management and procurement; Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) investigations, studies and design; Munitions and Explosives of Concern (MEC)/Chemical Warfare Materiel (CWM) investigations and avoidance recommendations; engineering; remedial action; construction management; operations and maintenance; health and safety; and quality control services. The contract covers sites within the United States and its outlying territories.
"Parsons has an excellent track record in cleaning up contamination at military sites by engineering and implementing cost-effective remediation techniques," said Tom Roell, Parsons Group President. "Parsons looks forward to working with the Sacramento District to mitigate environmental concerns and protect the natural resources at these sites for future generations."
Parsons has a long history of employing environmental remediation techniques such as bioremediation (using organic materials like mulch to produce anaerobic destruction of contaminates) and other in situ technologies to effectively diminish potentially hazardous or toxic substances.
"Parsons' environmental team is second to none in working with the Corps of Engineers to tackle the cleanup of sites with MEC/CWM as well as to effectively remediate the more difficult contaminates such as chlorinated solvents," said Tony Leketa, Senior Vice President responsible for executing the contract.
The contract is for a 2-year base period and allows for an additional 3-year option period.
Parsons, celebrating over 60 years of setting industry standards, is a leader in many diversified markets such as environmental, facilities, transportation, planning, infrastructure, industrial processes, communications, water, and advanced technology. Parsons provides technical and management solutions to private industrial customers worldwide as well as federal, regional, and local government agencies.
