New reports have been posted on the Indiana Department of Natural Resources online wildlife and fisheries research library (www.IN.gov/ dnr/fishwild/publications/notes/notes.htm), such as:

* The annual Raccoon Road-Kill Survey, which DNR biologists use to track statewide raccoon population trends. Check the 2003 methodology and see what raccoons are up to in your area.

* ANALYSIS of the 2001-02 statewide trapping harvest survey finds almost 50,000 muskrats and more than 40,000 raccoons continue to account for the bulk of Indiana’s fur harvest. Most of these harvested pelts were sold to local buyers.

* THE Classified Wildlife Habitat Program report shows Marshall and Kosciusko counties lead the state in preserving private wildlife habitat.

* The ring-necked pheasant survey shows population declines again that hover near historic lows of the early 1980s.
