May 11--CANON CITY - Five charges have been filed against a 35-year-old local man in connection with the April motorcycle-automobile crash in Penrose that claimed the lives of two people.
James Kincaid, III, is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of driving under the influence and one count of failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign. He will return to court July 19 for a preliminary hearing.
The crash occurred at 10:55 p.m. April 8 when Kincaid allegedly pulled out from the stop sign at Broadway and Colorado 115 directly into the path of a motorcycle. The motorcycle skidded but was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision, striking Kincaid's car broadside and bursting into flames.
The driver of the motorcycle, Robert Clark, 32, of Colorado Springs and his passenger, Brandy Fehr, 22, of Boone, Iowa, both died instantly of multiple chest injuries and torn aortas.
Kincaid and a passenger in his vehicle both were wearing seat belts and were able to escape from the car.
Kincaid is free on $15,000 bail.
