Progenics-Regeneron - Bayer Westchester Science and Engineering Fair Sends Student Finalists to 2006 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

Progenics-Regeneron-Bayer WESEF:

-- Winners from regional fair advanced to International Science &

Engineering Fair (ISEF) hosted in Indianapolis, May 7- 13.

Students spent the week meeting and competing with 1400

students from across the country and around the world for

scholarships and prizes.

This year's regional WESEF high school science competition, held at Pace University on March 18th, produced eight individual finalists and four teams of finalists, all of whom traveled to Indianapolis to present their research at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF). Prior to the international fair, these students participated at WESEF with approximately 150 high school students, from Westchester and Putnam counties in New York. They defended their research to judges who put together a group of students to represent the region at the International Science and Engineering Fair, sponsored by the Intel Corporation. All students at WESEF conducted in-depth research which allowed them to work with professionals in their chosen field.

Individual WESEF finalists and their ISEF awards are: Riana Betzler - Fox Lane HS - Behavioral Science 1st place award, US Air Force 1st place award, American Psychological Association Melanie Chow - Rye HS - Medicine + Health Scholarship to Albany College of Pharmacy 4th place ISEF award: Medicine + Health Category Margaret Delano - Ossining HS - Behavioral Science American Psychological Association award 2nd place ISEF award: Behavioral Science Orlando De Leon - Gorton HS - Chemistry Sarah Joselow - Ossining HS - Behavioral Science US Army award Alternate, Trip to Japan: operation "Cherry Blossom". Rachel Pian - Yorktown HS - Environmental Science 3rd place ISEF award: Environmental Science Caroline Pietsch - Ossining HS - Computer Science Acoustical Society of America Amer. Assoc. for Artificial Intelligence Honorable mention from the American Psychological Association 2nd place ISEF award: Computer Science Aditya Soni - Scarsdale HS - Mathematics Team WESEF finalists that progressed to Intel ISEF are: Xinyi, Duan + Gauri Manglik + Jenna Rosenberg - Briarcliff HS Alene Anello + Nathalie Tadena - Sleepy Hollow / Ossining HS Charlotte Yum + Chen Xiaotian- Ossining HS Matthew Huang + Nathan Gould- Scarsdale HS
