May 22--A man's body was found in Bellingham Bay on Sunday evening.
At about 7:30 p.m., a person kayaking near Taylor Street Dock reported seeing a man's body floating in the water about 100 feet from the shore.
The Bellingham Fire Department and Coast Guard responded, said Bob Peterson, battalion chief.
"They were able to recover the body," he said.
The identity and cause of death are not yet known.
The Bellingham Police Department is investigating the matter, he said.
"Nothing indicated foul play, as far as we know," said Peterson.
No further information was available Sunday night.
