BP Refinery Donates $25,000 to Red Cross

Jun. 1--BP Cherry Point Refinery presented the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross with a donation of $25,000.

The donation is the largest corporate donation received by the Mt. Baker Chapter. The funds will be directed to support the local School Safety Initiative, which is a community collaboration between the Mt. Baker Chapter, local school districts and area partners, all committed to improving school and community safety. The initiative provides prevention and preparedness safety programs for school-based audiences in Whatcom County.

The remaining funds will support the Real Heroes Celebration Event in December. This event celebrates the extraordinary contributions of people who step into crisis situations to help others. CONDO MANAGEMENT COURSE IS OFFERED A Condominium and Community Association Management Course is being offered during summer quarter at Bellingham Technical College.

The entry-level course will offer students the essential elements of community association operations and management.

This six-week course will cover association governing documents, rule making and enforcement, conflict resolution, budgets, assessments, insurance, reserve studies, facilities maintenance, and relations with project developers.

An experienced professional, including association managers, construction consultants, attorneys and insurance representatives, will teach each class.

According to the company press release, Homequest has been growing in recent years and needed a general manager to help provide overall direction for the company.

PINNACLE CHOSEN FOR ROOF MOISTURE SURVEYS Pinnacle Inspections of Bellingham was selected to conduct roof moisture surveys for Tremco Inc., a leading North American provider of roofing restoration and repair services.

Pinnacle Inspections will serve Tremco's clients in Washington, Oregon, Hawaii and British Columbia. The Bellingham company will use its infrared thermal imaging equipment to scan roofing surfaces, plus conduct core sampling and moisture testing. Pinnacle Inspections then will present drawings and reports on affected areas to clients for their review and determination of future repairs to roofing systems.

Tremco serves commercial and institutional clients, including schools, hospitals, warehouses, manufacturers and office complexes.

"By using infrared thermography, I'm able to detect existing and potential problems normally unseen by standard inspection techniques, saving thousands (of dollars) in unnecessary repair for clients," said Robert Stockmann, owner of Pinnacle Inspections.

Stockmann founded Pinnacle Inspections in 2003 after working more than 25 years in custom home and commercial construction. He is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors and a member of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing.
