State Group Lauds Food Waste Program

Jun. 6--The Washington State Recycling Association named Sanitary Service Co. of Whatcom County "Recycler of the Year" for its Food To Flowers and FoodPlus! Programs.
The programs collect compostable material from homes and businesses, reduce disposal costs, create jobs and reuse local materials. Sanitary Service also runs a fleet of 60 garbage and recycling trucks on biodiesel, reducing pollution and supporting renewable fuels.
The association's awards banquet was held May 22 in Spokane as part of its annual Recycling Conference and Trade Show. OFFICE SYSTEMS NORTHWEST HONORED Office Systems Northwest Inc. was named a Dealer of Distinction by Great America Leasing Corp.
Office Systems is a 25-year-old business in Bellingham that provides document management products and services, including copiers, printers, print management services, and electronic storage and retrieval systems. LAUNCHING SUCCESS OWNERS ATTEND EXPO Sandy Hiorns and Barbara Sanford, co-owners of Launching Success Learning Store, 133 Prince Ave., attended the National School Supply and Equipment Association Expo.
They attended seminars ranging in topics from customer relations to competition strategies for small businesses. Hiorns and Sanford also met retail consultants Rich Kizer and Georganne Bender, who had studied Launching Success as a case study to present in their workshop.
