Program to boost wildlife habitat

Applications from landowners are being accepted by the Division of Wildlife Resources for a new program aimed at improving habitat conditions for sensitive wildlife species on private property.
The incentive program provides technical and financial assistance, including habitat protection and restoration, to private landowners for the benefit of federally listed or other at-risk species.
The program is focused on sagebrush steppe uplands supporting certain types of grouse, prairie dogs and migratory birds, and pygmy rabbits. Also a focus are low-to-mid-elevation riparian corridors and associated wetlands with some types of cutthroat trout, frogs and birds.
For more information, landowners should contact the regional habitat manager at the nearest Division of Wildlife Resources office or their local Natural Resources Conservation Service office or U.S. Department of Agriculture service center.
Applications will be accepted through April 30.
