Energy Systems Group, LLC and Beech Grove City Schools Partner to Reduce Energy, Save Money and Rejuvenate School Facilities

Posted on: Thursday, 29 June 2006, 12:00 CDT

Beech Grove City Schools (BGCS) will undergo a number of facility enhancements over the next few months to dramatically reduce energy consumption with the help of Energy Systems Group, LLC (ESG). The corporation has contracted with ESG to implement a $2 million comprehensive energy and facility strategic energy master plan that retrofits existing lighting, heating and cooling equipment, temperature control systems and roofing systems at the five school buildings serving the community.

Once installed, these improvements will reduce energy consumption and utility costs for the community while helping to improve the comfort of the students and staff of this central Indiana district. All of this is being accomplished using an energy savings performance contract which enables the school to use future cost savings generated by the project to fund and pay for the project over time. This allows the school corporation to make the facility enhancements without using capital dollars allocated to other needed activities.

"We are excited to partner with the Beech Grove City Schools for such an innovative project," said Doug Tischbein, regional manager for ESG's Indianapolis office. "Implementing a strategic energy master plan and making these improvements to the community's schools help to stretch tax dollars, improve the classrooms for learning, and benefit the residents of Beech Grove for many years to come."

"Our school administration is faced with budget choices every day, and ESG has brought us an opportunity to improve our schools while reducing our long-term expenses," said Ross Sloat, assistant superintendent of business for BGCS. "This is a wonderful means to stretch our existing budgets and provide superior services to our community and support our mission of building a culture of excellence."

ESG will provide complete turn-key services to the BGCS administration including design, project management, implementation, financing, measurement and verification services and long-term training to allow the staff to focus on their primary missions. Upon completion of the six-month facility enhancement project, the students, teachers and school administration will enjoy a more comfortable and efficient working and learning environment.
