Choose Energy Launches the First, True Energy Savings Portal for Texas Consumers
Posted on: Friday, 7 July 2006, 09:00 CDT
Even with energy costs soaring, electricity customers in deregulated areas of Texas have something to be excited about.
The launch of the first true energy savings portal, www.ChooseEnergy.com, allows Texas consumers to manage their energy expenditures as never before. This free energy marketplace is made available by Choose Energy, a division of Priority Power Management.
Choose Energy's "compare and buy" neutral energy marketplace enables customers to evaluate options for electricity costs and - if they choose to - to select a new Retail Electric Provider (REP) based on lower rates, the use of "greener" power sources, contract length or other offers.
Even though electricity prices have increased more than 100 percent since deregulation, only about 30 percent of eligible electricity customers have switched to providers offering lower rates.
"ChooseEnergy.com can help these 70 percent of Texans who are paying more than necessary for electricity evaluate their options easily and confidently," said Jerry Dyess, general manager of Choose Energy."
"With the launch of ChooseEnergy.com, consumers can see an objective comparison of available offers, get access to real-time pricing and have the ability to switch providers - all without leaving this easy-to-use portal," noted General Manager Jerry Dyess.
"Priority Power Management (PPM) believes Choose Energy delivers value by equipping Texas small business and residential customers to take charge of their energy spending," noted John Bick, president of Choose Energy and managing principal of PPM, a leader in managing energy needs for large, commercial Texas-based energy users.
To use www.ChooseEnergy.com, consumers enter their zip code into the portal and compare side-by-side electricity offers from more than 10 retail providers, including incumbent utilities, as well as nine commercial and six residential competitive retail providers. Users submit their order through the site, which connects to service providers.
Choose Energy's portal sends update emails to consumers and allows order tracking on its website, which also includes helpful information and links.
As of July 7, 2006, the companies included on the site are Accent Energy, Champion Energy Services, Cirro Energy, Commerce Energy, First Choice Power, Green Mountain Energy, Mpower Energy Services, Spark Energy, StarTex Power and W Power and Light. The list of participating providers will vary from time to time.
