High school students across the Southeast states have a new way to earn course credit for missed or failed classes thanks to Curriculum Advantage, Inc., publishers of Classworks -- a network-based reading and mathematics curriculum. Curriculum Advantage, Inc. created a Classworks Credit Recovery Program for high school students.
"With our purchase of Classworks, we are excited to use it as a remediation curriculum for struggling students," said Bob Barnes, principal of South View High School in North Carolina. "We are also planning to use the credit recovery program to provide our students one more way to benefit from this powerful instructional software."
Curriculum Advantage, Inc. developed the credit recovery courses using its award-winning Classworks and INET Classroom content. The courses now correspond with required high school course requirements in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Students in those states who complete the Classworks Credit Recovery Program will have met or exceeded each state's course objectives and are eligible to earn credits toward graduation.
"We hear frequently from superintendents about the challenges of retaining struggling high school students," said Mr. Lindsey Cook, CEO of Curriculum Advantage, Inc. "This program is designed to motivate those students by providing engaging software that helps students successfully graduate from high school."
Current Classworks users can start using Classworks Credit Recovery right away. With their unlimited site license, credit recovery can be added to other implementation practices, further helping each user meet their student achievement goals.
Classworks (www.curriculumadvantage.com) is a network-based solution of reading and mathematics curriculum used in K-12 grades and includes 10,881 learning activities from dozens of award-winning educational software programs, all of which are correlated with National Education Standards. Classworks State Editions are further aligned to state learning standards and test objectives allowing teachers to more closely tie their teaching to the core concepts and competencies prescribed by their state.
Classworks was recognized by the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) 2006 Codie Awards as the Best Instructional Solution in the Language Arts/Reading category for elementary grade products. The company was named Newcomer of the Year as a leading company in tune with K-12 educators' needs. Classworks has been so well received by the education community that leading education organizations in Georgia, Florida, Texas, Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama and South Carolina have endorsed the program.
