Youth Programs Receive $400,000

CORPORATE GIVING

Lockheed Martin Corp. on behalf of Sandia National Laboratories has announced awards of over $400,000 in grants to programs benefiting the Middle Rio Grande community. More than 90 percent of the funds are focused on educational programs for youth.

Programs funded include Family Science Night, CroSSlinks, Adventures in Science and Knowledge, School to World, Excellence in Science Teaching Awards, the “Write Thing to Do” Essay Contest, and Science STAR Program administered by the Albuquerque Public Schools Foundation.

Agencies receiving direct funding include Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce for the Barelas Job Training Center, Shared Vision, the National Atomic Museum’s Up-n-Atom Mobile, New Mexico Tech Science Library, Hispanic Engineering and Science Organization Science Extravaganza 2004, Friends of Tijeras Pueblo, Children’s Cancer Fund Helping Hands Program, New Mexico MESA, Mothers Against Drunk Driving school assemblies and the Institute for Education and the Arts.
