Los Angeles South Bay Apartments and Rentals Rent Survey: South Bay Beach Cities Area July 2006

For July 2006, the average listed rent price of all listed rentals in these areas was $1,988.18, representing a 1.5% increase over two months ago. This was a general price increase across all rental types, with about 36% of listings in the South Bay -- Beach Cities region being houses, duplexes, or triplexes, as opposed to apartments, condos, or townhouses. This ratio of houses to apartments was relatively unchanged over two months ago, when approximately 33% of listings in these areas were listed as houses, etc.

There was a shift toward more multi-bedroom houses and apartments listed for rent. Two months ago, approximately 62% of listings in the South Bay -- Beach Cities region had two or more bedrooms. For July 2006, that percentage has increased to approximately 68%.

The largest rent increases occurred in Rancho Palos Verdes, where the total increase was 37.6% and Torrance, where the total increase was 8.1%. Rent prices also increased in Redondo Beach (Up 7.5%), Hermosa Beach (Up 6.6%), Palos Verdes Estates (Up 3.3%), and San Pedro (Up 2.3%)

Rent prices decreased in Manhattan Beach by 8.8% and El Segundo by 4.8%.
