American Pacific Corporation Announces Key Executive Appointments

LAS VEGAS, Sept. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Pacific Corporation (the "Company") today announced several key executive appointments.

Dr. Joseph Carleone will assume the duties of President and Chief Operating Officer of American Pacific Corporation, effective October 15, 2006. Dr. Carleone, who was named to the Board of Directors in July 2006, will continue as a member of the Board of Directors. However, he will no longer serve on the Audit and Corporate Governance Committees as these committees are comprised solely of independent directors. Dr. Carleone leaves the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer of Irvine Sensors Corporation. Prior to this position, Dr. Carleone was President of Aerojet Fine Chemicals, LLC, a business unit of GenCorp, and Vice President of GenCorp, a technology-based manufacturing company in aerospace and defense, pharmaceutical fine chemicals, and automotive markets. Before leading the fine chemicals business, Dr. Carleone was Vice President and General Manager for Remote Sensing Systems at Aerojet. Dr. Carleone holds a doctorate and master's degree in Applied Mechanics and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.

Dana M. Kelley has been appointed to the position of Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and Treasurer of American Pacific Corporation, effective October 1, 2006, having served as Acting Chief Financial Officer since March 2006. Prior to joining Ampac, Ms. Kelley was Vice President, Finance at Shuffle Master, Inc. Ms. Kelley served as Corporate Controller for UNOVA, Inc. and was Senior Manager - Audit at Deloitte & Touche LLP. Ms. Kelley earned a bachelor's degree in Science Accounting, Summa Cum Laude, Woodbury University.

John Gibson, who will remain Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "Dr. Carleone brings business expertise and background that is uniquely suited for our organization. Two additional executive appointments were made effective October 1, 2006:

Jeffrey M. Gibson was named Vice President, Chief Technical Officer of American Pacific Corporation. As Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Gibson will have responsibility for our remediation activities, information systems and certain operations, including Halotron. Mr. Gibson has held various positions with the Company, including most recently as Director, Halotron Operations and Director, Environmental Services, Nevada Operations. Mr. Gibson has worked for the company since 1988. He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics and business management from St. Mary's College.

Dirk Venderink was named Vice President, Engineering for American Pacific Corporation. Mr. Venderink has served in several engineering positions since joining Ampac in 1993, the last of which was Director of Engineering as well as leading the PEPCON Systems group. Prior to joining Ampac, Mr. Venderink held mechanical design engineering positions with United Engineers of Denver, Foster Wheeler - South Africa & the U.K., and Flour Engineers of the Netherlands. Mr. Venderink holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from MTS, the Netherlands.
