World Trade Center Palm Beach To Host German Trade Delegation

Posted on: Monday, 25 September 2006, 12:00 CDT

PALM BEACH, Fla., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- In an effort to familiarize German trade officials with economic development opportunities for local jobs and investment in Palm Beach county, the World Trade Center Palm Beach plans to host a visit by the Consulate of Germany, October 17, 2006.

During the whirlwind one-day visit, the German delegation is scheduled to meet with officials from Deutsche Bank, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, South Florida Water Management District, Palm Beach County Film & TV Commission and will speak at the County Commission meeting scheduled that day. In addition, the German trade officials will have a working lunch at Florida Research Park and Palm Beach Park of Commerce and tour the Scripps Research Institute, North County Airport, the Riviera Beach Harbor Village, downtown West Palm Beach, the Convention Center, and a concluding cocktail reception at The Chesterfield Hotel.

"It's a total immersion into what's currently going in Palm Beach county," Lou Haddad, President, World Trade Center Palm Beach, said. "This is the latest in a series of familiarization tours sponsored by the WTCPB with foreign consulates located in Miami. Germany is our second largest source of foreign capital in the county after Canada, so it's important for trade officials to see the huge momentum that has been created in our county for business growth and demonstrate that this area is a great place for continued future investment."

Haddad added the German trade official visit has the potential benefit of creating jobs if German companies decide to build factories or businesses here. "Increased foreign investment through new businesses locating here means an increased tax base which will benefit everyone who needs county services, in addition to jobs," Haddad said. "We are confident that the German delegation is going to be very impressed with what our county has to offer."
