California Association of Resource Conservation Districts Holds Annual Conference in Santa Rosa

Posted on: Wednesday, 25 October 2006, 15:00 CDT

SANTA ROSA, Calif., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The California Association of Resource Conservation Districts (CARCD) holds its 2006 annual conference at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa, November 1 through 4, 2006. The CARCD helps local Resource Conservation Districts (RCDs) with their efforts to conserve and enhance natural resources throughout California. This statewide conservation organization will elect new officers during the conference on November 4.

The CARCD conference, titled "Partnership: Working Together in Conservation," will be on California's North Coast, truly a place with something for everyone from agriculture and ranching to museums and wine tasting.

This conference will offer multiple opportunities for training and networking as well as enhancing knowledge and information about natural resources issues. There will be a land use panel, water quality sessions, forestry and fuels reduction session, just to name a few topics at the meeting. There will also be an EXPO, RCD director's training, and awards dinner. Other highlights include, on November 1, from 11:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., a restoration and wine tour at local Santa Rosa restoration sites. Then on November 3, the final competition for a statewide, high school speaking off contest will be held during the luncheon.

The CARCD helps local Resource Conservation Districts (RCDs) throughout California. The RCDs work with farmers, ranchers and urban areas to improve soil, water and wildlife habitat resources in the Golden State. California's expansive area, geographic diversity and rapidly growing population make natural resources conservation a growing and critical issue for the state. California has 103 RCDs that work in partnership with the USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.

The CARCD conference agenda includes meetings on: Land Use, Water Quality, Soil Quality, Fish and Wildlife, Conservation Education, Forestry and Fuels, Watershed Information Systems, Agricultural Waivers, Permit Coordination, and Conservation Easements.
