Idaho City Council Promotes Gun Ownership

The Greenleaf, Idaho, City Council has passed a resolution urging homeowners to own guns for emergency situations.
The ordinance makes exceptions for heads of households with mental or physical disabilities that would affect their ability to use a gun and for households who refuse to buy or use guns for personal or religious reasons, KTRV-TV, Nampa, Idaho, reported Thursday.
It recognizes that people still own fire arms, it recognizes that people have Second Amendment rights. I'm not fighting with that at all. It has shifted it to say it's recommended that those who foresee they would use those Second Amendment rights to protect life and property that they get appropriate fire arm training, local pastor Alan Weinacht told KTRV-TV.
The measure, aimed at keeping the crime rate down, also promotes citizen response teams, neighborhood watch volunteer groups and the adaptation of emergency response plans, the television station said.
