Boil-Water Advisory Could Last Several More Days in B.C. Lower Mainland

VANCOUVER (CP) - Health officials are maintaining a boil-water advisory for about 900,000 people in B.C.'s Lower Mainland.
The warning about drinking or brushing teeth with tap water was issued after last week's wind and rain storm stirred up silt and dirt in local watersheds.
Clay Adams of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority says turbidity levels are still too high, and he expects "we're still a few days away" from the advisory being lifted.
The alert affects residents in Vancouver, Burnaby and the North Shore, although tests haven't revealed any dangerous bacteria.
On Vancouver Island, boil-water advisories are in effect at Parksville, Port Alberni and Chemainus - but the city of Nanaimo lifted its advisory late Sunday, except for the Duke Point industrial area.
High winds on Sunday disrupted B.C. ferry sailings for the second time in five days while delaying work by B.C. Hydro crews trying to restore power to the village of Lions Bay.
