Tetra Tech to Lead Destin, Florida Waterfront Improvement Program
Posted on: Friday, 8 December 2006, 09:00 CST
Tetra Tech, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTEK) announced today it will lead a major waterfront improvement program for the City of Destin, Florida/Community Redevelopment Agency. The Company estimates the total constructed value of the waterfront improvement program to be between $80 and $120 million over 5 to 10 years.
Destin is known as the "World's Luckiest Fishing Village" and Destin Harbor is home to the largest charter fishing fleet in Florida. The Harbor Community Redevelopment Area encompasses about 400 acres bordered by historic Destin and the Destin Harbor. Tetra Tech will provide conceptual planning and design for the Capital Improvements Program that includes a waterfront boardwalk, parking improvements, pedestrian and water access improvements, roadway and streetscape improvements, public plazas and spaces, and stormwater improvements.
The Company will work with the community stakeholders including businesses, the fishing fleet, residents and property owners to gain public consensus on the final design concepts. Tetra Tech will then develop engineering design plans and specifications and help the City implement the proposed improvements. Tetra Tech leads an expert design team that includes EDSA, one of the leading planning, landscape architecture, and urban design firms; Walker Parking Consultants; and Economics Research Associates.
Tetra Tech has helped implement other large-scale waterfront improvement programs nationwide, including notable redevelopment programs in Memphis, Tennessee; Owensboro, Kentucky; Kansas City, Missouri; and San Antonio, Texas. Tetra Tech is currently leading the Los Angeles River Revitalization Master Plan effort for the City of Los Angeles, California.
