Farm Gate Shut on Cheap Food ; In Brief

CHEAP British-produced food could be a thing of the past, according to the National Farmers’ Union. Last year’s increases in prices at the farm gate are expected to continue as many farmers have moved into highervalue produce following changes to the subsidy regime. Rising world demand has also helped to push up prices.
