Anglers Can Keep Busy in Winter

Ifyou think theres nothing for fishermen to do in winter, thats your own fault.
The winter months are some of the best and busiest when it comes to all things angling.
Heres just a partial list of some events you wont want to miss:- Midwest Marine in Heyworth is hosting top professional bass angler Peter Thliverous during its open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Several local bass anglers who compete on tournament circuits closer to home also will be giving seminars. Hot dogs and soda plus door prizes will be given away. Dont miss this fun event close to home.- The Northwest Chicago Sports Show starts today and ends Sunday at Arlington Park in Arlington Heights. Admission is $7 for adults. Expect a $6 additional parking fee. Seminar presenters include outdoor television personality Babe Winkelman; Fishing Hall of Fame member and top fishing educator Spence Petros; smallmouth expert Mike Mladenik; guide Todd Berg; ultralight fishing expert Mick Thill; flyfisher Pat Ehlers; Bob Jenkins and Darrell Baker on fishing lake Michigan for salmon, browns and steelhead; river expert Bob Bott; Candian fishing guide Rick Krueger; Karen DiPietro, an up-and- coming angler who knows Illinois and Kentucky bass and musky waters; and Capt. Free and open to the public. – The 2007 Chicagoland Outdoors Show is Jan. 10-14 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. The event features the Fishing Hall, the Outfitters & Lodges section, DockDogs Competition, fishing seminars and more. Jim Crowley from Bloomington headlines on bass and Canadian pike.
