Chemical Leak Injuries Latest

A SERIOUSLY injured worker remained in a critical but stable condition last night following a chemical leak at the BASF plant at Seal Sands, near Billingham, Teesside. Another worker remains in hospital following Thursday’s leak. Dozens of staff were treated for burns and breathing difficulties after the leak of 4.5 tonnes of the toxic chemical hexamethylenediamine. The most seriously injured worker is being treated at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary. The second was being treated at Middlesbrough’s James Cook University Hospital.
