Omani Environmental Day – Celebration

According to Oman News: The Sultanate will after tomorrow (Monday) celebrate Omani environmental Day corresponding to January 8th. Celebration of the day comes in implementation of the Royal directives to specify a day for Oman’s environment and in crowning of continuing environmental work and in highlighting the government’s role represented by Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources Ministry and to protect the Omani environment and preserve and develop its natural resources, for future generations. The Ministry has prepared activities aimed to raise awareness level of various society members of the significance of preserving environment by adopting some functions which attract regional dimensions to outline the march of environmental work and the Sultanate’s outstanding and leading achievements in this field. In this occasion a running race competition will be organized next Wednesday under the auspices of Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed A’salmi, Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs. The race which is being organized by Regional Municipalities, Environment and Water Resources Ministry and in collaboration with Oman Athletic Association will kick-off from the Ministry’s HQ’s passing through Ministries street to the Intercontinental Hotel junction through embassies’ street and ending at the starting point. A number of athletes from Sultanate, other GCC states, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Iran will take part in the race.
