Popular Bird Park Suffers Lack of Birds

India's most popular bird sanctuary is experiencing a shortage of migratory birds this winter due to a lack of rainfall.
Keoladeo National Park in Bharatpur is usually home to more than 370 rare bird species, but many have skipped the park this year, much to the dismay of park directors and tourists alike, the Indian Express reported.
The park's source of water used to be a canal from a reservoir constructed about 250 years ago, but the water supply was stopped to provide water to the nearby Karoli village, the Express said.
Until this year, the park has managed due to plentiful monsoon seasons.
Bipasha Roy Chowdhury, a tourist to the area, expressed her disappointment.
This is the first time we have come here with lots of hope but it's sad to see the condition of the park, she said.
