Run Aground
January 15, 2007
SHIP SHAPE: A fishing boat crew were left stranded for more than 24 hours in the North Sea after their vessel ran aground in bad weather.
The Peterhead-registered Rosemount was returning from guarding duties in a North Sea oil field on Saturday when it got stuck in sand around half-a-kilometre north of the St Fergus gas terminal, off the Aberdeenshire coast. After various failed attempts were made to free the vessel, Aberdeen Coastguard called in a tug boat to pull her out last night.
The boat was pulled free just before 9pm last night and was taken to Peterhead Harbour for inspection.
