Opinions Sought On Forest Plan
News Briefs
The New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department wants your opinion of the state’s draft Forest and Watershed Health Plan.
Since 2003, State Forester Arthur “Butch” Blazer has, at the governor’s request, worked on creating the plan to “guide New Mexico’s forest and watershed health into the future,” said a news release.
The planning effort included collaboration between “a wide variety of government agencies and citizen stakeholders and experts involved in ecological restoration efforts across New Mexico,” the release said.
Tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at Los Vecino Community Center in Tijeras, East Mountains residents will be given the opportunity to review the plan and provide their input.
Public comments may also be submitted online at www.nmforestry.com, by phone at 476-3325 or by mail to New Mexico State Forestry Division, 1220 South St. Francis Drive, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
