Don’t Cut Air Quality’s Budget
January 26, 2007
I was outraged to learn that the appropriations subcommittee that oversees the environment budget has asked the state’s Department of Environmental Quality to cut its budget. The timing is especially puzzling, since Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, Utah and Cache counties have just received flunking grades for wintertime air pollution from the American Lung Association.
Why take money away from the department that is working to make the air we all breathe a little safer? I urge the appropriations subcommittee to reverse its position on this matter.
