But What of the Population?

The Green Party’s criticism of other political parties’ environmental policies isn’t convincing because it doesn’t even have a population policy. An environmental party without a population policy is simply not credible because most damage to the environment is proportional to population.

Pollution, demand for energy in excess of the renewable energy supplies, excessive demand for water, and green spaces destroyed by spreading suburbia are all increased by population increases.

The Greens propose to cut energy consumption per capita but cancel this out by not preventing excessive increases in the number of consumers.

Immigration must be reduced because it adds to substantial population increase with New Zealanders living longer. If life expectancy increases by 10 per cent, population will lift by the same amount.
