Colorado Mining Exhibit Foundation celebrates Earth Day

Posted on: Sunday, 13 July 2003, 06:00 CDT

The Colorado Mining Exhibit Foundation, in cooperation with the Office of Surface Mining, the Colorado Department of Natural Resources and the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States, celebrated Earth Day on a cool April 19th at the Denver Botanic Garden's Chatfield Nature Preserve. The theme of the 2003 Colorado Earth Day project was Learn About Colorado's Natural Resources.

The foundation's 3.6 x 11 m (12 x 36 ft) exhibit highlighted before and after graphics of reclamation successes and examples of energy production and conservation. Sources of free information on Colorado's natural resources were also available to visitors. For more information on the foundation, contact Guy Johnson, phone 303- 969-0365, fax 303-716-0503 or e-mail GPJ222@aol.com.

"Every Day is Earth Day on a Reclaimed Coal Mine" was just one of the displays visited by mothers and daughters at Colorado's Earth Day exhibit at the Chatfield Nature Preserve.
