OREM — A construction worker had a close call with a hand-held chop saw Thursday afternoon in Saratoga Springs.

The 46-year-old male was doing some remodeling in the area of 100 S. Saratoga Road, near the Jordan River, when the equipment he was using slipped and sliced into his upper left arm and chest, said Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon.

Co-workers called 911 at 1 p.m. and tried to stop some of the bleeding until emergency crews arrived.

Medical workers described the cut as a jagged-edge laceration to his upper left arm and chest, Cannon said.

The injury wasn’t life threatening, but the man was flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake City by a medical helicopter.
