Artists Prepare for Festival

MEMBERS of a Thirsk arts group are to take part in an annual science festival.Rural Arts, based in Westgate, is contributing to the tenth Festival of Science and Technology being staged this weekend.Run by Science City York, the event has taken the title of Ourselves, Our World, Our Universe.Over this weekend, there will be five artists in the McCarthur Glen shopping centre, in York.They will be working between 10am and 4pm to create pieces of artwork for the public to see.The Rural Arts team plans to explore the concept of individuality by using digital photography and pictures of people’s faces.The photographic collection will then be made into a mosaic at the shopping centre. People will also be asked to write a message to the world to show how humans can make a difference.
