Russian Authorities Begin Check of Total Oil and Gas Project

Moscow, 13 March: The [Russian] Federal Service for Environmental, Technological, and Nuclear Oversight (Rostekhnadzor) today began a routine check of compliance with industrial safety regulations at the oil and gas projects of the French company Total (operator of the Kharyaginskoye oil and gas profit sharing agreement project).
Rostekhnadzor specialists are to check compliance with industrial and environmental regulations during the development of the Kharyaginskoye oil and gas deposit. Pipelines and facilities for the extraction, treatment and metering of oil and gas are to be inspected, Rostekhnadzor said in a statement.
In addition, Rostekhnadzor began a routine comprehensive inspection at the Mayak Production Association (in Ozersk, Chelyabinsk Region) and also checks with compliance with environmental protection legislation at the Bogoslovskiy Aluminium Plant, Kluchevskiy Ferroalloys Plant (Sverdlovsk Region) and Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine.
