HOME recycling is getting cheaper – with a new range of bargain compost bins on offer to people in the Hambleton area.The district council, as part of the York and North Yorkshire Waste Partnership, has joined forces with the Waste Resources and Action Programme to offer compost bins from 8 in an attempt to encourage more residents to recycle their household waste.”Composting helps us to reduce the amount of waste we put in our rubbish bins, ” said recycling officer Jenny Lowes.”By simply placing some of your kitchen waste, garden rubbish, shredded cardboard and newspaper in the bin there will be a constant source of nutritious compost for your garden within six months.”And by investing in one of the bins we have on offer, residents can do this very cheaply.”The three bins are all made from recycled material – the 220-litre and 330-litre black bins cost 8 and 10, while the 250-litre “thermobin” costs 20.
