Schechter Teacher Wins Essay Contest
SHARON – The head of South Area Schechter Day School’s new science and math curriculum won first prize last month in a national essay competition for her essay on finding ways to integrate technology into lesson plans.
Nitzan Resnick of Sharon co-founded the innovative $250,000 curriculum and teaching model at the day school.
The winners of the competition, sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science and Subaru of America, received a stipend to attend the AAAS’s annual meeting last month in San Francisco and a one-year subscription to the journal Science Books and Films.
In her essay, Resnick discussed her vision of how science and math education can be improved while inspiring students “to become budding scientists.”
The Schechter School will hold a conference in May to address ways to redesign math and science educational methods and curricula.
