Japan Finishes Wartime Chemical Weapon Disposal in Nanjing

Beijing, March 27 (Jiji Press)–A Japanese government mission charged with the disposal of chemical weapons left over from World War II has completed the retrieval of 2,707 chemical shells abandoned in Nanjing by the Japanese military, Japanese Cabinet Office officials said Tuesday.

The shells will be kept at a temporary storage facility in China.

Some 20 Japanese government officials and private-sector experts participated in the mission. The 10-day retrieval work ended Sunday.END
